Jay Handline started Dance Trance 30+ years ago as a way to break free from the repetitive workout routines and music he saw everywhere. He teamed up with leaders in the dance fitness world to create something fresh—a movement that goes beyond just a fitness class.
What started in Birmingham, Alabama, quickly became a huge success, with innovative choreography set to original music. When Jay and his wife Beth decided to centralize the Dance Operation, Jacksonville, Florida became home-base for all of Dance Trance Studios. Along with cutting-edge choreography, they introduced an innovative foundation with custom lighting and sound systems, creating an exciting immersive atmosphere. Dance Trance continued to grow across the U.S. and globally, inspiring countless enthusiasts to move, sweat, and connect through dance.
A NEW CHAPTER
Dance Trance enters a new chapter with Lindsey Pepper as its new owner. While honoring Jay's original vision, Lindsey is bringing fresh energy, inclusivity, and a modern twist to the program. She’s committed to maintaining DT's legacy of innovative choreography and community, while evolving the brand to meet the needs of today’s diverse audience.
Together with a dedicated team and instructors, Dance Trance is building a vibrant community. This shared effort ensures that every part of the program is shaped by passion and creativity. Lindsey's vision for the future of Dance Trance embraces community, making sure everyone, whether new to dance fitness or a long-time DT enthusiast, feels at home in any class.
